Description:

- Administrate a 200+ server Unix (Solaris and Linux) environment, including hardware, software, operating systems and host security

- Backups and disaster recovery - manage system backups and DR planning, monitoring, testing and execution

- Storage array and SAN administration

- Physical data center organization management, including server racks, power, cooling, cabling, and access control

- Coordinate outside vendors, including collocation, service contracts, and telecom. Organize contract bidding and renewals

- Develop and maintain detailed system and process documentation. Provide training to other SA’s to back you up in your area of responsibility

- Performance tuning and troubleshooting complex system issues

- Providing 24 x 7 on-call support



Required Skills:

- A minimum of 5 years Unix system administration experience with at least 2 years managing environments of 100+ servers.

- BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent, or 4 additional years of relevant experience

- Expertise in several of the following scripting languages, listed in order of importance: perl, shell scripting, java, sql, html, php, javascript, python

- Extensive experience with open source tools and applications such as Apache, bind, cvs, bugzilla, mysql, Nessus, Snort, OpenLDAP, OpenSSL, Ethereal, etc.

- Extensive storage array, SAN, and NAS administration experience, preferably using EMC technologies

- Strong understanding of system and network security strategies

- Excellent oral and written English communication skills



Desired Skills:

- Professional certifications in Solaris, Linux, networking, and/or security

- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios or OpenView

- Experience with Oracle database administration

- Experience in network infrastructure administration (Cisco)

- Experience administering java based web applications running on J2EE application servers such as Jboss, Tomcat, WebLogic, or WebSphere.

- Prior experience working in an ASP / SaaS, or ISP environment
