As a member of the Content Platform group, you will develop the Ingenuity Knowledge Base and associated components. Projects may include developing ontology models to store information in a consistent and computable manner, developing processes to acquire and integrate new types of content, maintaining and expanding the ontology, integration with external databases, and developing queries to integrate the content into Ingenuity products. You will join a dynamic cross-functional team composed of biologists, ontology engineers, and software engineers working on truly cutting-edge technology. | Required Skills:
- An energetic, open-minded person with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written - PhD in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Bioniformatics, or a related life science discipline, or ontology/semantic web experience preferably with some life sciences background - Strong ability in analytical thinking - Willingness and enthusiasm to learn and practice new technologies as needed to get the job done Desired Skills: - Understanding of biological databases and search tools - Knowledge of biological ontologies or the Ingenuity KB - Facility with ontology query languages and knowledge base tools - Coursework or research experience in molecular and cellular immunology, pathogen biology or the molecular basis of pathogenesis - Experience programming in Perl, Python, or Java. Some experience with software development best practices |
