| Description:
Are you a senior usability engineer who is looking for a creative and innovative role where you have a high level of autonomy and challenge? In this senior role a great deal of your creative ideas will be utilized to design innovative, easy-to-learn, and easy-to-use desktop and web-based scientific applications for biotech and pharmaceutical scientists. In this focal position you will work with cross-functional product definition teams that include software engineers, biologists, quality assurance engineers, marketers, and product managers. If youre up to the challenge of aggressive deadlines and multiple complex responsibilities, we want to hear from you. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Create and define concepts for new products - Conduct user and task analyses to define user needs (user scenarios, persona/profile building and interpretation) - Develop high-level information flows and navigation systems (concept diagrams, flow charts, site maps, etc.) - Design user interaction models and detailed user interfaces such as screen-flow diagrams, UI components and behaviors - Create innovative product prototypes for usability testing and proof of concept purposes - Author detailed design specifications with screen mock-ups - Participate in usability tests by helping to define methodology, conducting walks-through, and developing reports - Collaborate with engineers to ensure the designs can be effectively implemented and the look & feel of given initiatives meets intended user interaction. |

| Required Skills:
- 4+ years experience designing complex desktop, web-based and/or enterprise applications(experience with Java/Swing implementations a plus) - Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Human Factors or HCI, Cognitive Psychology, Product Design, or the equivalent - Familiarity with user-centered-design methodologies - Knowledge of the drug discovery process is required or will be needed to learn quickly - Ability to create clear and clean prototypes in Photoshop, Visio and HTML - Must be collaborative and flexible and enjoy a fast-paced and demanding environment. - Excellent writing and communication skills - Experience applying the theories of both Tufte and Shneiderman to complex information visualization applications |
