| Description:
Consultant will work with a team of DBA's to support and provide backup in a Development & Production environment across several DHR projects. Under limited supervision, the mid-level DB2 Mainframe DBA will report to the Manager of the Data Management Group and must be able to install, maintain and monitor multiple DB2 database systems (version 7 and higher), including development, test, training and production database environments. Has experience with State Government based systems such as Medicaid, DFCS, Child Support, etc.; as well as maximum proficiency with the following: Has five plus years experience as a DB2 DBA with OS/390 and/or Z/OS Has experience with CLIST/REXX, Change Man, DB2 Connect. Is a DB2 Certified DBA. Has experience with Disaster and/or Data Recovery Planning and documentation. Has experience building or maintaining data warehouse or data marts. Has experience developing, documenting and enforcing DBA standards. Has experience using DBA tools such as Quest (Spotlight), Embarcadero, ER/Studio, ER/Win. |

| Required Skills:
The mid-level DB2 DBA (Mainframe) should posses at least three years of experience managing DB2 database systems (Version 7 and up) in a mainframe environment running OS/390 and/or Z/OS as well as possess the following DBA skills: 5+ years of (documented) experience as a DB2 DBA with OS/390 and/or Z/OS Analyze customer database needs and requirements, implement recommended solutions. Assist in developing database security, control procedures, testing, conversion, implementation and documentation. Assist with data modeling assignments and provide database related assistance to application developers as needed such as SQL tuning. Assist in the analysis of changes to hardware, network, database objects, patches, application, etc. Assist in the preparation, creation and review of test plans and data. Assist in developing and conducting database presentations and project work plans. Perform pro-active database performance monitoring and tuning. Utilization of vendor provided DBA tools and utilities such as Computer Associates (Platinum), IBM, Strobe, TMON, Visual Explain, File-Aid DB2, File-Aid RDX, QMF/SPUFI, TSO, etc. Working knowledge of CICS, COBOL II, VSAM, and IDCAMS. Database support including database backup, recovery, run stats, and re-orgs, etc. Develop and deploy SQL scripts, stored procedures, functions in support of application database needs. Interact closely and professionally with other team members on various projects or tasks. Be willing to learn and be willing to mentor others. Serve as point of contact and responsibility for database and other application vendors when problem escalation is warranted. Be willing to rotate on-call support as needed for production systems. Have excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as a college degree in engineering, computer science or another related area. Three business references as outlined in Other Comments below. |
