Summary:
Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia is seeking a Front-End Web Developer with 3 to 5 years of experience in developing all aspects of front-end web technologies. The candidate must exhibit advanced expertise and be willing to gain further experience in all of the following technologies:
HTML and XHTML
CSS
JavaScript
Ajax
jQuery, Prototype and other JavaScript frameworks
DOM
Additional skills, although not required, are beneficial:
Flash/ActionScript
PhotoShop skills (ability to cut-up PSD or other image files)
Drupal Theming (strongly desired)
A good eye for design
Familiarity or experience with Social Networking API's (Facebook, OpenSocial)
Utilization of source/version control systems, such as Subversion, in a collaborative environment
Any other open-source technologies such as PHP, WordPress or the LAMP stack
The ideal candidate's experience should include strong adherence to excellent front-end web development standards. A creative and technically talented individual who can problem-solve, think both independently and collaboratively and also see the "big picture" are prerequisites for this position. Experience in a template-driven, large-scale website environment is a must.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in reviews of wireframes and PhotoShop Comps and evaluate the best approach for front-end web development
Work with graphic designers to obtain and create all visual assets necessary for website production
Develop custom, dynamic user experience using JavaScript libraries, jQuery and Ajax
Work closely with server-side developers to facilitate user experience on the front-end using dynamic server-side data
Participate in development of best-practices, shared standardized code libraries and written documentation of all systems, tools and processes

Required Skills:

Bachelor (4-year) degree or equivalent
3-5 years of hands-on, front-end web-development experience in a professional Internet and/or Intranet environment
Strong, demonstrable skill in hand-coding HTML and XHTML
Proficiency in JavaScript, Ajax, jQuery, table-free website development and cross-browser compatibility
A portfolio exhibiting prior related work using the requisite skill set
Experience with use-cases and/or scenario specifications
Experience working in a team environment that uses concurrent application development systems, such as code repositories, unit and integration testing, user acceptance testing, deployments and release planning and management
Strong analytical, problem-solving and time-estimating skills with an interest in optimizing ongoing processes
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively participate in the product development and project management processes
Experience with Agile methodologies is desirable
Enthusiasm, personality, teamwork and a positive attitude count tremendously
