JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Clinical Informaticist Department: Clinical Informatics (A Division of Nursing Administration) Hours: Flexible Job Summary: Responsible for workflow transformation, system configuration, development, testing, education, implementation, and support of our clinical systems. The Clinical Informaticist functions as a knowledgeable practitioner, and as a consultant, educator, and evaluator to maintain and improve system services. Consistently searches for and implements systems in a way to allow practitioners to provide high quality care in the most efficient manner possible utilizing technology. Experience and Qualifications: Current licensure as a RN in the State of California preferred. BLS Certification. Minimum 2 years of clinical experience Clinical Informatics experience preferred. Strong computer skills required. Proficient with Windows applications. Essential Competencies/ Performance Expectations*: 1. Excellent organizational, presentation communication skills and leadership skills. 2. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application and to ensure the Clinical Documentation system are consistent with professional standards of clinical practice. 3. Ability to asses, plan, intervene and evaluate systems and processes. 4. Ability to work effectively individually and as part of a team. 5. Collaborate with Clinical Informatics Manager in evaluation of development efforts, in planning pilot and full implementations of new Clinical Documentation system features, and in processing user feedback and requests. 6. Provides a liaison with all departments relative to patient care documentation system and processes. 7. Function as a liaison with Information Services to assure input to and consistency with enterprise-wide priorities and initiatives to facilitate ongoing system development. 8. Serves as a Super User for clinical departments. 9. Ability to work on several complex issues at the same time. 10. Assists in the development, implementation, education, evaluation, maintenance and coordination of clinical documentation systems. 11. Participate in the process of revising and implementing changes in both the automated and manual components of the Clinical Documentation system. 12. Respond appropriately to requests and concerns from users or others affected by the system. 13. Coordinates and provides input to system training demonstrating understanding of the adult learning process. 14. Identifies and assess ongoing learning needs, participating in educational programs both in the classroom and on the units. 15. Tests and verifies usability of system enhancement as needed. 16. Assures appropriate system access and optimal menu configurations to maximize workflow and system utilization for designated user groups. 17. Provides cross-training for other members of the staff with regard to clinical information systems. 18. Verbalizes and demonstrates knowledge of procedures for maintaining security, confidentiality and integrity of employee, patient, family and other medical information. 19. Demonstrates ability to collect, analyze and present data as appropriate to position. 20. Strives to continuously improve operations through quality improvement and sustained results. 21. Collaborates in development and distribution of newsletters for clinical staff. 22. Assists clinical staff in identifying cause and solution to computer issues. 23. Protects confidentiality of patients, families and staff. 24. Ensures accuracy of data, work and information. 25. Utilizes the knowledge and skills of clinical practice to determine clinical functions that are suitable for computer application. 26. Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to consistently meet customer service standards. 27. Supports a safe, blame free and healing environment for patients, visitors and personnel. 28. Displays a professional commitment to the organization, supporting the unit team and promoting unity and teamwork interdepartmentally through positive working relationships. 29. Ability to see the big picture for our Clinicical Documentation plan and still focus on the day-to-day details. |
