Plant Controller (Aiken, SC) Our client is seeking a motivated, professional Controller for its Aiken, SC facility. Under the direction of the Manager - Operations, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of operating results including production reporting and expenditures. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES · Establishes, or recommends to management, major plant economic strategies, objectives and policies for the plant. · Facilitate communications between departments to identify needs and opportunities. · Continuously analyze opportunities to improve plant cost performance and be proactive in seeking out and implementing new ideas. · Review all projects to ensure propriety of expenditures, performing post-project audits to ensure that the project delivered proposed results. · Review all internal accounting controls throughout the plant to ensure that they are in compliance with GAAP and that all Company assets are properly safeguarded. · Recommends modifications to existing plant programs. · Prepares reports which summarize and forecast plant business activity and financial position in areas of costs and sales revenues based on past, present and expected operations. · Directs preparation of budgets, reviews budget proposals, and prepares necessary supporting documentation and justification. · Develop, review and present the Annual Operating Plan for the plant. · Advises management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities. · Provides management with timely reviews of organizations financial status and progress in its various programs and activities. · Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets. · Advises management on desirable operations adjustments due to tax code revisions. · Coordinates activities relating to audits of plants accounts and conducting internal audits as necessary. · Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies. · Foster a participative management structure at all levels while maintaining a positive leadership role. · Develop short and long range plans for the development of key personnel, assessing, developing and continuously upgrading departmental skills. · Conform to all applicable HACCP and CTS specifications. · Follow all Safety and GMP policies and procedures. · Maintain good housekeeping practices in all areas of responsibility. · Other Duties as Assigned - Other duties may be assigned as needed to support the needs of the Aiken Plant and other divisions. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE · Bachelors Degree in Accounting (minimum); MBA, CPA, CMA is preferred with 2 - 5 years experience ideally in consumer products or manufacturing. · Hands on experience in all areas of plant accounting and financial reporting, general accounting, cost accounting, payroll, inventory management and control. · Experience with standard cost systems and integrated financial software (SAP). · Strong technical and analytical skill with a solid cost accounting background. · Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. · Strong business orientation enabling identification of opportunities for improving financial performance and providing decision support for strategic business initiatives. · Capable of reviewing financial controls to identify weaknesses and recommend corrective procedures (SOX compliance). · Hands-on and self directed. Comfortable in an environment requiring day-to-day involvement in the details while remaining cognizant of the company/plants long term objectives. · Capable of creating development plans to improve capabilities of direct reports.
