JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer REPORTS TO: V.P Operations DEPARTMENT: Manufacturing SUMMARY Responsible for full scope of manufacturing engineering tasks which includes working with manufacturing team to identify and resolve manufacturing problems as well as leading manufacturing projects from inception through completion in order to maintain and exceed business demands. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs manufacturing equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, and software issues. 2. Documents causes for equipment failures and corrective actions taken. 3. Participates actively in formulating and implementing continuous improvements to the manufacturing processes. 4. Oversees dismantling, adjustments, repairs, assembling and testing of equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, schematics, operating or repair manuals, and sketches or drawings. 5. Lends technical expertise to the maintenance department in maintaining a proper preventative maintenance program and spare parts inventory for machinery and equipment. 6. Ensures adherence to all federal, state, local, and company regulations while completing projects in order to provide a safe and secure workplace. 7. Completes documentation required for project recommendations, approvals, and monitoring. 8. Maintains detailed historical records of the development process of manufacturing projects. 9. Maintains a positive vendor/customer relationship through timely and discretionary communication. SKILLS/ABILITIES 1. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time. 2. Work various and flexible schedules (including weekends and overtime) when necessary. 3. Communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal). 4. Ability to set-up and operate a wide variety of test/diagnostics equipment and manufacturing equipment and machinery. 5. Ability to apply theoretical engineering to the automation and use of precision equipment for manufacturing processes. 6. Read blueprints, drawings, schematics, layout plans, repair manuals, and technical reports. 7. Able to work with molding machines, hydraulics and pneumatics. 8. Highly organized and detail-oriented to lead projects and follow through to completion. 9. Extensive work with personal computers, spreadsheet, and other associated software. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Requires an electrical, mechanical, or related engineering degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have three (3) plus years of directly related engineering experience in the injection molding and/or plastics manufacturing industry. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Must be able to work the standard 40 hour work week, plus overtime as required to complete assignments on a timely basis; must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; must be able to transport (using stairs) oneself to and from offices of other personnel and travel when necessary. Must be able to read and write English; be able to see with or without corrective lenses; have the ability to think logically and be able to lift and carry various office items, equipment, and parts up to 50 pounds. ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS Office environment consists of a modular office that includes adequate lighting, heating/cooling, equipment and furniture in good working condition. Must be able to work constructively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations, and at all times maintaining company as well as employee confidentiality. Must be able to tolerate environment within the manufacturing facility being aware of fumes and particulate generated from various types of plastic materials.
